The sculpture, Silver Orbs Cubed, was designed by Esquire Jauchem in 2007 (Green Man) for the Bubble Lounge in the center circle of Center Camp right across from the Cafe. It has 24 highly reflective silver balls 10 inches in diameter suspended inside of a 10-foot cube. When we first built it there was some concern that the balls would bang into each other during a windstorm. When severe winds hit we were amazed to discover that, because they are spheres, the balls are aerodynamically steady and they barely move. It has been recreated at Burning Man five times and has appeared three times in the LA Decompression Festival. Thousands of pictures have been shot featuring this installation.
For the past forty years, Esquire Jauchem has had an extremely varied career in the performing arts. He was the founder of the Boston Repertory Theater, Associate Director of the Opera Company of Boston, and co-founder of Broadway’s Jauchem & Meeh Special effects company.
He was worked as a Producer, Writer, Director, and Designer (lighting, sets, and costumes) in a variety of performance arts including The Big Apple Circus, the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet, the Ballet Trockadero, a casino magic show, and he has produced over 1,000 episodes of network and cable television. He designed the scenery and lighting for the Dalai Lama on the night that he won the Nobel Peace Prize. He was the founder and producer of the Carnevale Venice Beach for 8 years.

For a few hours every day, in the afternoon heat, our team will cleanse people one-by-one with special sudsy cloths that cool and clean them without needing to be rinsed off. It is a powerful, intimate, emotional experience that brings back memories of being bathed as a child and often brings tears to their eyes. Many people who came last year said it was the best thing on the playa.”
